The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently announced it is investigating whether a series of recent infant deaths were caused by homeopathic teething tablets and gels. The FDA recommends that consumers stop using these products immediately. The teething products are distributed by CVS, Hyland’s, and elsewhere in retail stores and online.
The teething products are used to alleviate the discomfort felt by teething babies. However, the FDA has received numerous reports of seizures, difficulty breathing and muscle weakness after children were given these products.
The FDA warns:
Consumers should seek medical care immediately if their child experiences seizures, difficulty breathing, lethargy, excessive sleepiness, muscle weakness, skin flushing, constipation, difficulty urinating, or agitation after using homeopathic teething tablets or gels.
